-- An awesome book! -- 3/9/2006
I started out knowing very little about Camelids but have expanded my knowledge through this book! Marty is an excellent writer and has made my thirst for knowledge even greater. I hope to have a couple of llamas within 2 years or so due to her insight! A must-read for anyone interested in llamas or alpacas.
-- Superb and to the point!!! -- 2/27/2006
I'd been searching for information concerning the simple facts of alpaca rearing. A wonderful suggestion came to me from the owner of the Alpaca Digest, Peggy. I can't thank her enough for all her help and the wonderful suggestion to purchase this book! It truly is full of wonderful information which is going to prove totally useful in our future endeavor of raising alpacas. Thanks so much to Marty - whom I hope to meet one day soon! Good job!
-- the camelid companion -- 10/7/2005
Very informative book on handling camelids although more related to Llamas than Alpacas.
-- The ULTIMATE training guide for camelids! -- 8/28/2005
Having read every book I can get my hands on related to camelids (llamas and alpacas), I have found this book to be the 'end all' in my search for the ideal training program. The secret is that the animals don't need to be trained...the trainers do! This book clearly explains and demonstrates the skills required by the handler (aka 'human') that will transform your experience with your animals a hundred fold. Based upon the Tteam concepts developed by Linda Tellington, Marty McGee Bennett has fine-tuned those concepts as they related to camelids. If all camelid owners were exposed to these teachings, all of the llamas and alpacas would unite and hum "ALLELUIA!"
-- Sound Training Discussions -- 12/22/2003
Bennett's book provides a sound psychological and behavioral theory for all of the handling or training that a llama owner needs. She describes clearly how to handle and train any llama in an effective manner. No book explains llama behavior, handling, and training better than Bennett's.

-- Best Camelid Book Written -- 5/1/2003
Whether one is a novice or a long time owner of alpacas and/or llamas, this book has something for everyone. Some of the techniques seems so simple and sensible that one wonders why it took so long for someone to tell the lama community about how to work with these wonderful creatures successfully. It is amazing how a changing your behavior will alter and improve your relationship with your animals. The books is clearly written, explicit in detail, and right on target. It is filled with vital knowledge for all alpaca and llama owners! Tired of picking up your alpacas to get to move easily? Read this book! Try the techniques outlined in this book and you will have everyone asking you why your alpaca or llama responds so well to you and your wishes! If you can not read this book and find numerous tips on "training" yourself so that your alpacas or llamas can trust you and help you become a "team", then you are holding the book upside down! A "must" for everyone who loves alpacas and llamas.

Wonderful, useful and my llamas are wonderfully trained by it.
Now they pick up their halter and bring it to me to put it on.
-- A Perfect Training Book -- 5/16/2002
This book is great. I'll try to tell you why I think so...This book tells you very much about training lamas. Almost every alpaca or llama breeder has 'problem animals.' This book will help you solve the problems.
It is not only very informative, Marty also uses humour. This will keep you reading even longer!
The book is highly priced but the book is really worth it! It counts 400 pages, full with info and pictures. As a llama or alpaca owner, it's a must have, and if you do not own lamas, this is a great way to begin learning about training and handling them!
